200th Anniversary of the Prague Conservatory

The period between 2008 and 2011 in which the school was celebrating the 200th anniversary of its founding and opening, was full of outstanding concerts and performances. A bulletin on the past and present of the Prague Conservatory was published. A television film about the school was shot. A touring exhibition about the two-century history of the school has been in circulation throughout the country and Europe. In 2011 the Prague Conservatory experienced the opening of the new concert hall and its own theatre stage. On the occasion of the anniversary the school was cooperating more intensively with important cultural institutions, such as the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Prague Symphony Orchestra (FOK), National Theatre, and in the media sphere with Czech TV, Czech Radio, and magazines Hudební rozhledy and Harmonie.
The cycle of celebrations took place under the auspices of the President of the Czech Republic, the Minister of Culture, the Minister of Education and the Lord Mayor of the city of Prague. UNESCO has marked this occasion as a world cultural anniversary 2011. The main objective was to introduce the Prague Conservatory not only as an institution with a rich and suggestive history, but in particular as a school which is actively working and successful in training future generations of musicians, singers and dramatic artists.
